Access Statement for The Town & Country Lodge

Introduction

The Town & Country Lodge is within easy reach of Bristol and ideally situated in rural surroundings on the A38, just south of the city.

We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit. We have 36 guest bedrooms, 18 of which are on the ground floor. One of these rooms is a family room sleeping 2 adults 3 children, 7 Quad rooms sleeping 2 adults 2 children, 12 Triple rooms sleeping 2 adults 1 child, 14 Double room sleeping 2 adults and 2 Twin rooms sleeping 2 adults in separate beds.

The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival

We are 3.5 miles from Bristol International Airport, a 10 minute drive turning left out of the Lodge & the City Centre also 3.5 miles turning right out of the Lodge.

There is a Bus Stop 10 minutes walk away.

The main train station (Temple Meads) is 15 minutes away travelling by car.

There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. The Lodge uses Streets Ahead Taxis, whom generally use a mini minibus with lots of space for luggage.

Our Restaurant menu can be provided in larger print if required.

Arrival & car parking facilities

The Lodge is open 24hours a day all year round, with the exception of Christmas Day.

On arrival, we ask all guests to report to Reception to check-in.

There is free off street parking for 34 cars in the reception area at the front of the premises. We also have a large secure long stay car park (gates are kept locked) to the left of the Lodge, with spaces for over 200 cars, used for holiday makers. The car park has a level tarmac surface on ground level. A pathway from the car park leads to the guest bedrooms and separate Reception, Bar & Restaurant areas.

We have an access ramp (width 65 inches) with handrails leading to all ground floor bedrooms. There are 2 other access points involving 5 steps up (average height per step is 7 inches, width of step 45 inches & depth 15 inches). However they are also fitted with handrails on both sides.

Our car parks are illuminated during the hours of darkness.

We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.

Main Entrance & Reception

The front entrance/Reception area has 2 doors. The main entrance has 2 steps down into the building - average height per step is 6.5 inches, width of 47 inches & depth of 24 inches. Second entrance has 2 steps - average height per step is 6.5 inches; width of doorway is 3ft. This door is always locked but we do have a doorbell in the canopy.

On arrival, guests are required to complete a registration form, our facilities are explained & then directions are given to the bedrooms located outside Seating is provided in our entrance hall.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

Our Restaurant is on the ground floor, accessible to everyone. There are 8 steps average height per step 6 inches, width of step 5 ft/62 inches & 1 ft/13 inches. Deep, leading to the Blooms Bar. Followed by a further 8 stairs, average height per step 7.5 inches, width of step 4ft/48 inches & 1ft/12 inches deep, to the upper landing, function rooms and toilets.

Public Areas - WC

All 36 bedrooms are en-suite bath / shower room.

In the Lodge we have 1 disabled toilet on ground floor situated by Reception, accessible to all. The upper landing area also has WC facilities.

Dining Room

Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor in the main building which is accessed from the Reception area. This entry is level for disabled guests and the door width is 32 inches. There are 3 tables each seating 4 people & 7 seating 2 people. We also have a raised area with 3 tables seating 4 people and 2 tables seating 2 people. The Restaurant has 15 tables in total.

The chairs are without arms.

A Childs highchair is available if required.

Soft background music is played during breakfast and evening meal.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten free and all other dietary requirements can be catered for if arranged prior to stay.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are not available on the premises but there is a Launderette with a 10 minute drive from the Lodge- Staffords Launderettes

Shop

The nearest convenience shopping facility is the corner shop/News Agents, 1 minute drive away (10 minute walk), turning right out of the Lodge car park.

A petrol garage & shop is a 1 minute drive (10 minute walk), turning left out of the Lodge car park.

A wider range of shops are available in the many surrounding villages/towns and the city centre is only 3.5 miles away.

Leisure facilities

Woodspring Golf Club (opposite the Lodge) is only a 5 minute walk to their Reception, offering a great way to spend your spare time on their driving range. Set in beautiful country surroundings.

Outdoor Facilities

Bristol has so much to offer. We are not far from Bristol Zoo; Children's play areas and parks. The SS Great Britain, Cheddar and the Caves, Wookey Hole Caves, Chew Valley Lakes, the Mendip Hills, Seaside attractions and the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge (of which the Lodge has a fantastic view of) is all within a 30 minute drive.

Bedrooms

All 36 bedrooms are furnished to a good standard and are large and spacious.

There is central heating throughout the Lodge and in all bedrooms. The temperature of each guest room is controlled by the thermostatic controls on the radiators.

The beds are made with al-season duvets.

Each room has a TV with remote, Hairdryer, Iron with Trouser Press, Towel Rail, Shower Gel/Shampoo & Soap & a hospitality tray with Tea/Coffee making facilities, Dressing table with Mirror and Light.

The average bed-height is 20 inches, all doorway widths are 28.5 inches. All bathroom doorway widths are 28.5 inches and the height of all washbasins are 33 inches.

The Family Room - 2 double beds & 1 single - Based on 2 adults, 3 children.
Walkway around beds: width 37 inches. Between beds; 18 inches & partitioned 3rd bed/room door; width 23 inches. The Bathroom is at the front of the room.

Quad Room - 2 double beds - Based on 2 adults, 2 children.
Walkway around beds: width 41 inches & between beds; 22 inches.
All Quad rooms are of good size with a 5ft square space for travel cot and/or luggage if required. Mostly Bathrooms are at the back of the room.

Triple Room - 1 double & 1 single - Based on 2 adults & 1 child.
Walkway around beds: width 40 inches - between beds 20 inches.
All triple rooms are of good size with a 5ft square space for travel cot and/or luggage if required. Bathrooms are mostly at the front of the rooms.

Double Room - 1 double bed - Based on 2 adults sharing.
Walkway around bed: width 3ft. Bathrooms are at the front of the room.

Twin Room - 2 single beds - Based on 2 adults.
Walkway around beds: width 38 inches & between beds: 23 inches.
Both twin beds have a 6ft x 5ft space for travel cot and/or luggage.
Bathrooms are at the front of the room.

Rooms 21(family room), 37, 57 & 58 (double rooms) have a shower only.

Grounds & Gardens

The Lodge is situated in rural surroundings, fields with a lovely view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

We have a good sized outdoor seating area in the courtyard outside of the motel styled bedroom accommodation. This in summer is used frequently to dine and socialise. It has picnic style benches, 3 small lawns, shrubbery, trees and plants to enhance the appearance, not forgetting to mention the beautiful scenery and view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Children are welcomed at the Town & Country Lodge.

Only Guide Dogs are permitted onsite.

Mobile phone reception is generally good.

We are a totally Non-Smoking establishment; however we do have designated smoking areas.

The fire alarms ring continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (eg: hearing impairment) please make Reception aware on your arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.

A fridge is available for Medication purposes.

A selection of local information is available in our display in the entrance hall/Reception.

There are folders in each guest bedroom which gives information on our Lodge, Bristol and emergency contacts for the area.
